About Edgar

biography

Edgar took a meandering path to comedy, avoiding as many potholes as he could along the way. He worked at grocery stores, Kopp's Frozen Custard and The Coffee Trader in Milwaukee before embarking on a career in television. He worked at WISN (Milwaukee, WI) before embracing an Emmy's internship in Hollywood. He worked for Miramax films— the house that Tarantino built— before returning to television news. He was then a news anchor and reporter at WMBD (Peoria, IL), KSBW (Monterey, CA) and WEEK (Peoria, IL). He left that profession for corporate communications, where he worked hosting events and trade shows, writing, producing, doing on camera work and voice overs. Edgar started performing stand up comedy in 2016.

From August 2023 to August of 2024, he was back on 25News (WEEK-TV - NBC in Peoria Bloomington) hosting the station's weekly restaurant review segment -

You Gotta Eat.

Edgar has a confident swagger and a calm, cool and collected demeanor. He is relaxed and well-spoken. He talks about being a second-generation Asian-American, maintaining the spark in a more than 20-year relationship, racism, and family foibles. His act is clean and clever. He pokes fun at himself and the environment around him. He has good comedy instincts and a commanding stage presence.

Edgar has headlined at the Jukebox Comedy Club in Peoria and Mason City Limits Comedy Club in Mason City, Donnie B's in Springfield and regularly features at Yellow and Co. in Mahomet and for C-U Comedy in Champaign/Urbana. He also does showcases for Blo-No Comedy (Bloomington/Normal), Belly Laffs and Yuk Off Comedy (Springfield).

Out of region he has headlined Delirious Comedy Club in Las Vegas and a number of venues in Milwaukee and Madison, WI.

Edgar has competed at the Jukebox Comedy Club Comedy competition four times, becoming a finalist the last two years and a semifinalist in 2017, just one year after he started performing. He was also a finalist in the 2018 and 2023 Laugh Hard Challenge in Rock Island.

Edgar has opened for some fantastic touring comics. These include: Tom Arnold, Charlie Berens, Costaki Economopoulos, Adrienne Iapalucci, April Macie, Liz Miele, Ryan Niemiller, Erica Rhodes, Rob Schneider and Roy Wood Jr. So far, he has performed in sixteen states and played some of the top clubs in the Midwest and beyond.

He opened for Berens at a sold-out Peoria Civic Center as part of the Midwest Survival Guide Tour.

In 2024, he performed on Kill Tony at a sold-out 5000 seat theater at Resorts World in Las Vegas.
